For light partitions or suspended ceilings, the E and I requirements are important. The letter R is added to load-bearing walls. This is referred to as an EI30 wall (formerly RF30), which is a wall with 30 minutes’ fire resistance.
Light partitions or suspended ceilings can be constructed from different materials such as plasterboard, calcium silicate panels, etc… The walls can also be fitted with fire-resistant glass and the whole structure determines the fire resistance achieved.
